An Introduction to Nanoscience at the City University of New York Advanced Science Research Center

The Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) is the keystone of the City University of New York’s (CUNY) Decade of Science, an initiative launched in 2005 to help position CUNY as a significant research institution and reinforce its commitment to advancing scientific research and education. The ASRC is a state-of-the-art facility, being equipped with high-end research equipment to support the Center’s five research initiatives (Photonics, Nanoscience, Neuroscience, Structural Biology and Environmental Sciences). Dr. Trevino will discuss how the center plans to increase its collaborate efforts both within the United States and with universities abroad. He will also discuss his own research area of Nanophotonics and Nanoplasmonics as applied to next generation solar cells, LEDs, chemical sensing and quantum encryption.
